  • ANA POPESCU

Ana Popescu (b. 1988) is a multi-media visual artist working and living in Brooklyn, NY. Her works are comprised predominantly of found objects and recycled materials, 2D and 3D collage, manipulated fibers and textiles, and resins.

Ana’s work is greatly informed by the dichotomy of her background: an immigrant from revolution-era Bucharest, Romania who spent her subsequent years growing up in sunny Miami, FL. She plays with concepts of the uncanny and the push and pull between that of the synthetic and organic. She blends playful brightly colored objects and materials such as inflatables, pool toys, and florals with an underlying tone of crumbling chaotic dystopia. A sparkling illusion gilding the weathered, torn and grotesque.
